Monday, Monday

It's snowing again. However, a real heat wave today, 7 degrees, and that's ABOVE the zero mark on the thermometer. Ahhhh, enough about the weather.

Sunday and today were filled with disappointment, good cheer and excitement. The disappointment of the weary Packer's losing out on a chance at another Superbowl had fans feeling blue, but looking ahead to the next season. Joe, Fred and I spent the first half at Poo's on the Pond, which is always fun and full of good cheer. After the half-time meal, we headed for home to watch the remainder of the game, which was a real nail-biter and ended sadly for the GB fans. The real excitement was when Joe announced to his Dad that he has begun the necessary requirements to have his named officially changed to Joseph Ivan Schmidt. This was his Christmas gift to Fred, and I was fortunate to be a part of this wonderful news. What a joyful moment!

Today, I accompanied Fred and Joe on their journey to meet Joe's mom, Terri. Joe will spend the remainder of his visit with her before he heads home. This was the first time I met Terri, and I found her to be funny, witty and very engaging. We hit it off immediately! Joe comes from good stock.

This Monday, I am thankful for our beautifully blended family. There's a scene toward the end of the movie Mrs. Doubtfire, when Robin Williams' character says that families come in all different forms; but the most important thing is that they love and respect each other. Something like that. Anyway, I think that is us. Fred and I have great love for Joe, Ryan, Jessica, Nathan and Olivia. They are gifts to be treasured.
