Mmmmm, I think my Gramma and my Mom would be proud.
My apple pie recipe:
10 large granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons good vanilla
A couple of pinches Kosher salt
2 tablespoons apple pie spice
6 tablespoons butter, cut into tablespoon pats
Zest of one lemon and the juice, too
(I used Pillsbury already made pie crust.)
Line your pie dish with one of the crusts. In a large bowl mix together everything except the butter slices. Turn this mixture into the crust, and top with the pats of butter. Lay the other crust on top of the apples, and crimp the edges. Cut a few slices in the top crust for steam to escape while baking at 350 degrees until the apples are tender when you stick a knife into the pie. An hour or so, I guess. Oh, to get a really nice crust on the top, beat one egg in a small bowl, and brush this over the entire pie crust. Sprinkle some sugar on and pop into the oven. Bon appetit!
