Mom

On Thursday last, our family gathered at Mount Hope Cemetary in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin to inter Mom's ashes. All week we were thinking of that first day of May, the day we had chosen to put some kind of official closure on the death of our mother. Ya know, I kind of dislike that word, "closure". What in the hell does that mean...closure? Anyway, here's some humour in the entire deal...at least we have that. Thank goodness...I have come to realize we have a pretty funny family. Anywhooo...Wendy had had Mom's urn at her house since September. Kim decided she would find a nice box to put the urn in and then we would bury that with little things that all of us kids chose to include. Sort of like a permanent time capsule. Wendy arrived with the urn. Kim arrived with the box. Urn does not fit into box. Creepy idea. Open box...Not good. Cyn has one of those IKEA blue heavy plastic totes in Jeep. Viola! Dan concurs. Mom, Uncle Jamesy, Gramma and Grampa, Aunt Ferne, Aunt Ruth, Aunt Helen and anyone else who was watching from above all must have been chuckling at us trying to solve the dilemma! We had a tearful, smiling, crying, laughing, impromtu graveside service for our mom. Peaceful rest, Mom. You are so very much missed.

Thanks for posting this. It reminds me (once again) of how lucky we are as a family to have our humor.
