Uncle Chuck

This past weekend, we learned that our Uncle Chuck passed away. He was 82 and had been married to our Aunt Ferne, who was probably the liveliest and funniest lady in our family. Uncle Chuck was a wonderful musician who played with the Whoopie John Orchestra for many, many years. I believe he played the clarinet and alto sax. Memories of staying at their house are of him taking off on those Saturday nights to play, and me and Aunt Ferne would stay up late, watch Johnny Carson and talk and laugh. So it goes with our family. We last saw Uncle Chuck at Uncle Jamesy's funeral this past December. He was doing well, and I really enjoyed having Fred meet him for the first time. Fred's Dad also played trumpet and coronet for the Whoopie John Orchestra many years ago! Small world, as they say.
Uncle Chuck was a kind man who had the most wonderful sounding laugh! He was a great conversationalist and was a joy to be around. We are all deeply saddened to lose him, yet another member of our family. I can only hope that somewhere, somehow, they are all together, playing 31, cribbage, laughing and embracing all that heaven is. Fond adieu to Uncle Chuck.
