Radioactive

This past week had been very disturbing, and I kind of shut down for a few days. Not everything was bad, but I did find myself experiencing a frightening situation. Wednesday, I had been scheduled for a stress test, required by my new doctor. The first part of this test was to have a scan taken while my heart was at rest. I was all prepared to do the treadmill for a while until my heart rate reached a certain level, then have some radioactive dye injected into my IV and repeat the scan, with a "stressed" heart muscle. Ok, not a big deal. When I arrived at the hospital at 6:15 AM no less, they told me I was going to have a medicinally induced stress medicine injected into my IV instead of me doing the treadmill. I was warned that I may feel a little uncomfortable during the 6 minutes of this part of the procedure. Well, I gotta tell you...that was total bullshit! I'd rather have a baby and a root canal on a molar at the same time! All kidding aside, I was terrified of how I felt when they started to put the medicine in my IV. My chest felt heavy and I could not seem to breathe. Also, I felt my jaw and throat tighten up, and I felt like my brains were going to explode. Fun, huh? It was disturbing, to say the least. As soon as they finished this part, I went to the scanning deal again for the second part of the test. I could not wait for all this to be completed, and went to work for a few hours after the deal, which took about 3.5 hours! I went home, and slept for 14 hours!
The really good part of this thing is that my doctor called to report that my heart is just fine, no blockages, and my cholesterol is about 207...not great, but I'm working on that.
