Federal inspectors at U.S. border crossings repeatedly turned back filthy, disease-ridden shipments of peppers from Mexico in the months before a salmonella outbreak that sickened 1,400 people was finally traced to Mexican chilies.
So, I was thinking about making some of my special fresh salsa last week. Nary a jalapeno to be found at the local market. Now I know why...
Not happening...salsa without jalapenos? Nope...ain't gonna make it.
Ahhhhhh, then I remembered, I planted 12 jalepeno's this summer at my friends, Lyle and Lori's. They have a great big garden near the street, and no problems with bunnies, deer or other little creatures that get after the plants. (We live in the woods, kind of, and have many, many bunnies that eat all the garden plants.)
So...Lyle tells me there are about 200 jalapeno's on the plants!
Vive la Salsa this week! Mmmmmm, with freshgarden grown tomatoes, and onions. Want the recipe? Say the word.
