Ok, I did get a call-back from the Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce. Apparently, the Fairgrounds will be raising it's fee for overnight camping in 2009 from $15.00 a night to $20.00.
In my humble opinion, someone needs to take some responsibility for running that place. 20 bucks a night?
Another local campground offers terrific amenities such as: fully shaded and large sites; playground for children of all ages; fire rings; a pavillion at no extra charge; free dump station; on site store; WI-FI; and more for only a couple of dollars more a night.
Before you tell me to shut the hell up and just go to the other site for my plan: I HAVE.
The purpose of me spouting off here on my blog is to vent a little about the NWSF charging that much money for what is really nothing more than a place for the "carnies" to park their rigs when they are in town for the event.
IF the Fair offered at least a minimum of allowing a fire-ring at each site, and a picnic table I think more folks would look here to plan their events. Also, just a recommendation: Check out City-owned parks for camping. One in particular is the City Park in Spearfish, South Dakota. Nice, very nice. And, they sort of pack 'em in, but it's a good model. http://www.spearfishparksandrec.com/
I'm just saying...
