Absentee Voting

When I worked for the City of Arden Hills, Minnesota, one of my "hats" included being appointed as the election administrator. Something I learned today was that not all states have the same election laws. That said, Wisconsin allows unexcused absentee balloting, while Minnesota does not. In other words, when I opened mail from the Republican Party that included information on how easy it is to vote absentee, I was a little outraged, to say the least. Apparently, anyone in Wisconsin can avoid going to the polls in November. I, for one do not think this is the right thing. I understand some situations for absentee balloting are necessary, and I do not argue this. Rather, what is wrong with going to your voting location, and learning how our election process works by casting your ballot on that first Tuesday in November? There's something very rewarding about exercising one's right to vote on Election Day. Some folks around the world do not have the privilege.

I'm just saying...
