OK, the Minnesota State Fair...

I gotta tell ya, this year was something else! We parked at the Roseville High School lot and took the free bus. Nice...very nice.

Food list:
  • Cheese curds...really good, but I tossed out half of them.
  • Deep fried dill pickle slices: Hmmm, at first blush, grotesque. But after another taste, kind of good. Dipped in some kind of batter, then rolled in panko crumbs. Nice. Lisa shared these with us.
  • Ice Milk in a waffle cone: Again, I scooped out half of the ice milk and enjoyed the cone the most.
  • Pronto pup: Same for 30 years.
  • Potato boats with sour cream and cheese. Yummy.
  • Four bottles of water.....ahhhhhhhhhhh.

Creepy list:

  • The little kid entering the Fair on Snelling Avenue who took a poop right on the Blvd.
  • Creepier...his Mom wiping his butt with leaves, and then trying to bury the evidence in trampled down, grassless, dirt.
  • Creepiest...watching all this while waiting for the bus totake us back to our car.

Funny list:

  • The "kids"...goats in a school bus.
  • Looking at all the old ladies, and wondering if the young folks were looking at all of us in the same way!

Best Improvement:

  • The Heritage Bazaar...an entirely new stage and marketplace.

One thing that pisses me off:

  • I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but this year's juried art show in the Fine Arts Building was a a joke! Each year, the judges seem to award the highest prizes to oddities rather than pieces of extraordinary creations. So it goes....

We've started a Wellness Program at work. Unfortunately, I could not use all my walking at the Fair as steps toward my goal. The program started September 1.
