Fred and I went on our what is most likely, final Airstream "camping" this past weekend. This time we only traveled to Ladysmith, Wisconsin. I was probably there a couple of times with my Gramma and Grampa when I was little, but I really don't remember. Ladysmith is a very quaint and cute little town of about 4K population. The place we stayed was off Highway8, and although the lawn had not been mowed in a few weeks, the spots we parked were very spacious and had both electric and water service.
Friday night we stayed in after dinner out and let the others partake of the bonfire. I was just dead tired. Small problem with the trailer, though. Fred ended up driving into town (a few blocks) and getting an additional tank of LP, and we were again toasty and warm. I gotta tell you, a couple of Golden Retrievers to curl up with keeps a body plenty warm!
Saturday we traveled to a local shop where they had a huge selection of local and some imported wines. Also, we got some cheeses and a box of Hungarian Mushroom dried soup mix. (It's definitely soup season, again!)
Saturday afternoon found us at happy-hour around a small fire, which grew to a blazer by evenings end. Everyone grilled and brought a "dish to pass", which is usually a success...no duplicate fare.
One of the most fun things at a Rally-Campout is that Streamer's of all ages show up bringing stories and jokes and dogs, of course. I'm grateful most folks in our group are pet lovers. Molly and Brody are mostly obnoxious, but they have fun right along with the group. This past weekend's quote has got to be one of the...shall I say...more mature women in our group spoke of her latest dream-fantasy, starring Don Knotts!
Gotta love it!
