Historic Year for Animals in State Legislatures

It was a fantastic year for animals in state legislatures, as lawmakers passed a record-breaking 91 new laws to protect animals. Following in Congress' footsteps, state legislatures took a strong stand against the cruelties of animal fighting -- over 25 states considered bills strengthening the penalties for animal fighting and 14 states enacted new laws cracking down on the activity. We also celebrated a landmark victory as California voters overwhelmingly approved Prop 2, a measure that will improve the lives of 20 million farm animals.
