January 25th - Noon
Good friends and family joined together today for an afternoon of food, beverages, live music and fun! Poo's was the site of the 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off, which boasted 18 entrants as opposed to 11 from the first event a year ago!
Yours truly along with the Tone-Meister and Lyle were the judges of a difficult and spicy race for the coveted prize of "Best All-Around Tasting" chili. The judges were served by the ever lovely and talented Tonya, with Poo keeping a tally of the results - Good, Great and Best in the flavor department.
Of course, there was a tie-breaker for some of the ranks, but rumour has it the numero uno was a shoe in from the first round.
Last year's group from Stanley showed again, and this time took first prize!
After juggling cornbread, chili pots and the pool table everyone was treated to an afternoon of great blues proved by Howard Luetdke (guitar) and Jim Schuh on the drums. Jake sat in a few sets playing blues harp, and a finale featuring Sharon Roback singing the Janis Joplin favorite - Bobby McGee.
Fred Schmidt eased into 5th place with his contribution, and all the winners took bows and a photo-op was taken.
A splendid time was had by all!
