Golden Retriever Puppy Mill Rescue

The Golden Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin http://www.grrow.org/

has three goldens that were rescued from puppy mills. All breeds of mama's from puppy mills are mistreated and abused, but for a golden, I think it is especially horrific. They are just such a loving and giving breed of dog.

It's important that folks have an understanding of how these females, who have been bred every heat cycle, are affected by the inhumane treatment given to them while they are "in service". Many females are simply shot to death when they are no longer useful to the owners. The three "girls" at GRROW are available, or will become available soon for adoption to loving homes.

This is the beginning of the story of Misty...(December, 2008)

Misty arrived a couple of days ago; she came from a "puppy mill" situation and is very skittish and shy. She is extremely head and collar shy and runs from any noise or sudden movement. Her reactions are typical of a dog who has suffered at the hands of humans. It's very sad, but she is very sweet and with some work will make a great dog. I suspect she has spent most of her life in a kennel, whelping puppies, and being pulled around by her collar and hit on the head by the way she reacts.

We are working on socializing her and showing her how to play, and that it's ok to ask for love and pets. Anytime anyone comes near her, she drops to the ground and cowers in fear.

More on how Misty is doing later this week. If you want to adopt her, check out the GRROW website.

Thanks! She's really sweet looking, isn't she? Can you imagine how loving, gentle, quiet and appreciative she would be to have a loving home? It breaks my heart. Humans that could look at Misty and hit her, or harm her...well, I just don't get it at all...sigh...
