Word of the Week: Pernicious

Harmful, injurious, malicious, hurtful.

This adjective, beginning to be a more common word describes the behaviour of those folks who spew hate, but never talk of a solution.

In the past I have been known to say I hate the Amish people. For those pernicious words, I am sorry. Amish and Mennonite people have a belief that dogs are a commodity, and treat them thusly. Therefore, they think nothing of caging, breeding and mistreating dogs. The way for them to CHANGE is to be educated in conjunction with positive behaviour such as DON'T BUY A DOG FROM THE WANT ADS, OR PUPPY MILL, OR PET STORE.

Beware of advertisements in the local paper for puppies...and call and if the people will not meet you on Sunday, it's a sure clue that they are Amish or Mennonite and running a cruel operation. Also, if you absolutely HAVE to buy a dog from one of these breeders, ask to see the puppies parents, and assess how they behave, look, and are treated. You will know...you will be able to tell in a heartbeat if there is something amiss.

And, please...don't be pernicious. It really is a step backward.
