What a difference a week makes...

Wow, it's been a week since I have taken the time to post to my blog, and what a whirlwind it has been! Totally satisfying, though.
  • I met with Senator Pat Kreitlow regarding the puppy mill legislation and it is looking good for this necessary Bill to pass this session. Keep your fingers crossed.
  • Fred and I will travel to west of Tomah, Wisconsin this coming Sunday afternoon to gather up a girl golden retriever, whose journey will originate in Georgia, and be transported by many volunteers along the way. Cherry is a young mama, whose owner dropped her off at a shelter. The owner had Cherry bred, gave all the puppies to family members, and decided they did not want to keep Cherry. So, Cherry will travel all the way to near St. Cloud, Minnesota, the end of her journey to a new home. I'm told she is a sweet girl, who is still mourning the loss of all her babies. I do not know anything about where she is going in St, Cloud, but pray it is to a loving and caring home.
  • I will not be attending the first part of the protest at the Horst Dog Auction tomorrow. My new friend Jodi Hunter from Janesville will, though. She and I will keep in contact during the day, and perhaps I will go for a short time.
  • At the listening session with Senator Kreitlow, I learned that the Mennonite people of Worden Township Wisconsin have a regular practice of destroying dogs that they deem worthless. The Mayor of Thorp told me if they don't get the price they want at auction, rather than donate the castaways to rescue, they kill them by bludgeoning them with hammers. Somehow, this seems comforting...to know these dogs suffer no more. Sigh...
  • Happy news...it's Fred's 56th birthday, Wednesday, March 11th. Send him some good cheer, if you please. heyfred@clearwire.net Or 715.720.2453. He's da bomb.
