The Beatles

Whil'st playing around on the computer, I happened upon this video of Ringo's newest deal. As many of you know, I am a Beatles fan. So much that I used to attend Beatlefest Conventions in Chicago, and travelled to Ames, Iowa in the early 90's to see Paul McCartney live, and I have all their 13 vinyl (practically virgin) and all 13 CD's. I can still remember the first time I saw them on the television...it was Sunday, and my family was visiting my Grampa and Gramma (Dad's parents) in Amery, Wisconsin. My grandparents were really old even then, and they had this small screened, black and white television in their livingroom which was next to this very old cabinet style AM radio that had 5 push buttons to change the channels. I can remember Ed Sullivan introducing The Beatles. What a BLAST! George Harrison was my fav. Fred is learning the Beatles stuff on his guitar. He tells me the chords are amazingly complex. In my humble opinion, the writing duo of John and Paul is unrivaled, and I love every single song they composed and sang. I don't really understand or read music, but I think I have a pretty refined ear...and it makes my stomach turn to hear "Imagine" by MUZAK in an elevator, or some awful rendition of any Beatle song as background to a bank card commercial. Is nothing sacred?

I agree... I love the Beatles, too, and hearing their music in commercials kills me. Like that Target commercial with 'Hello Good buy'! Augh!

My first Beatlefest was in 1980 in Los Angeles. I was 15. My parents drove my friend and I there (we lived about an hour away) and I still remember the 'advice' my dad gave us: "Don't talk to any strange men. They might want to take you someplace."

I like your blog!
