Meandering Thoughts

Seems when I don't post to my blog, I take a look at what's going on, and this week has been a busy one, for sure! No computer time translates to taking care of tasks, projects and other details of a busy life, which beats boredom.
On Wednesday, I volunteered at the Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls as a docent for the Spring Art Show. It was pretty quiet, although there was a steady stream of visitors there to admire and enjoy the local artists creations. Many folks stated that they felt the categories of photography and painting/sculpture/and other mediums should be judged separately. Thought provoking commentary. As a potter, painter (oils and water), calligrapher and photographer, I can understand the difficulty in judging all those mediums together. There are many facets of art that need to be considered by the judges, and perhaps the viewing public is on to something. This show indicates more and more entries each year. Maybe it is time to think about this. I'm just saying...
So, while I was there, I got to chatting with the new director and was invited to put together some of my work for a one woman show in 2009. I am delighted and inspired. I'll keep everyone posted.
On the puppy mill front...I plan to meet with State Senator Pat Kreitlow at his listening session next week. Hopefully, he will have time to discuss bringing forth legislation which will make it illegal to operate puppy mills in the State. Just a reminder, tell everyone you know: DO NOT PURCHASE A PUPPY FROM A PET STORE. It's the best way to stop the brutality. Dry up the demand.
Finally, I received a request for 2 quarts of my fresh salsa this week. Someone having a party, so I made a couple of bucks, and it also inspired Fred to think about marketing it, yet again. I've got the recipe down pat, and I had to laugh...Fred was at the Poo's this week, and he overheard two guys talking when he left the room to...well, you know...Overheard: "Hey, you see that guy who just when into the men's room? His wife makes some killer salsa!" (Not your typical "heard at the tavern" remark.)
