Our First Rally - 2008

I've not mentioned too much about our trailer. We have an Airstream trailer whichwe enjoy using about 7 months of the year. This past weekend, we joined other folks in our local Wisconsin Airstream Unit for a Spring Rally at the Mirror Lake State Park in Lake Delton, WI. Friday it rained all the way there, and into the night. For those of you who have ever set up camp in the rain, you will understand how nice it feels to get it done, and get warm and dry. Tent camping, that is next to impossible. Airstream camping, not only do-able, but absolutely heaven!
Saturday was much nicer weather, and we joined all the folks for lunch, then headed back to our camp for fun social time and a chili-dump for dinner, then a really welcome campfire get-together where we met more folks in our unit, and also some new faces. It was just a great evening full of laughter and good times. All these folks have lived in Wisconsin most or all their lives, and I am sorta new to it all, so I enjoy hearing stories and recognizing how very small our world really is when Fred mentions something of his childhood and youth in Madison (the rally was near Madison, and lots of folks are from there, as well). They all knew the same hang-outs, bars, restaurants and so forth. Today, just glorious-the sun is shining and it is actually warm. We made it safely home in about 2.5 hours, and I am doing my typical after camping clean-up and unpacking.
We had a terrific time at this rally, and look forward to more as the season continues! A HUGE thanks to Ellen and Mark McGaughey who put this together and made everyone feel so at home.
