It occured to me that I have never had a brush with fame, whether by accident, or on purpose. The nearest I have come to an up close and personal experience with a "celebrity" was 4th row center at O'Shaunessy Auditorium on the U of M campus. Don Henley was 10 feet from me, and it was an incredible concert, but we never really exchanged words. So...I have polled my family and here are their "brushes with fame":
First, my sister Kim said,"STING"...and I thought it was pretty cool, until she said she got stung by a bee. Smart ass.
Jerry, my brother-in-law: Back in the early 60's, living in Lake Elmo, he met Bobby V.
My niece Stacy: Four summers past, on her way home to Stillwater from Siren, stopped at the Milltown Drive-Inn for a burger. She sat one table away from Kent Hrbek. Also, April 17th, 2008 at the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas, Stacy literally brushed shoulders with Carmella Soprano (Edie Falco).
My husband Fred: Got commode hugging drunk with David Allen Coe at the Number 10 Saloon in Deadwood, South Dakota. When he was a cabbie in Madison, Edith Bunker (Jean Stapleton) was one of his fares. Lucille Ball was one of his students in Vail, Colorado when Fred was a ski instructor in the 1970's. His band opened for Van Morrison in Madison, Wisconsin in 1969 at the Great Dane, which is the Dane County Collusium. Their band, The White Trash Blues Band was the first act of 5 which preceded Van Morrison. And....finally...
Jamie, my nephew by marriage has an uncle-which is bigger than a brush with fame. His uncle is Dez Dickerson who played bass for Prince and the Revolution. While attending the 2007 Prince concert in Minneapolis, Jamie shook hands with Jesse James and Sandra Bullock, who were also attending the concert.
Wait, one more...my niece Stacy was at the Prince concert and was doing an accoustic version of Little Red Corvette, and during a silent pause, she yelled, "I love you", and in the same pause, he yelled back, I love you, too. A highlight for Stacy which she will carry with her until next Tuesday, at least.
Personally, I have no brushes with fame. But, I do know Tommy Lyberg, Poo and Tank.

Well....yes, Jeff..Dez is related to you, and the link to him is correct...he is Stacy's husband's uncle...married to his aunt. Whew.
Poo...is famous, that's all you need to know.
And...Cool...I will tell Fred about David Allan..perhaps he will want to go, but probably not...I suspect he won;t remember Fred! :)
