This Pissed Me Off!

Today at work I got a phone call from someone selling subscriptions to the local paper, the Chippewa Herald. We have caller ID, and I noticed the area code was somewhere in New Jersey. The City of Chippewa Falls uses the Chippewa Herald as it's LEGAL publisher for notices, meeting information, legal ads, etc. All cities must have a legal publisher. That said, the City of Chippewa Falls subscribes to the paper, and receives 4/5 papers a day. What really makes me feel angry is that this little local rag has, for some reason hired an out of state company to solicit subscriptions. What is the reason? Why did I get a call from someone out East asking if I wanted to subscribe? Does anyone else see the rationale in all this? How embarrassing for the telemarketer when I clued her in. Wait...she probably didn't really give a _____. Yeah, that's it...no one really gives a____. I'm just saying...what happened to local folks knowing what the hell was going on with their own company?
